Succesful Examples

Across the world, these lost areas have been reimagined in creative ways, turning once neglected sites into thriving public spaces, parks, cultural hubs, and more. Below are a few examples of locations showcasing successful applications that display the versatility of these environments.

Mecidiyekoy Art and Istanbul Bookstore
Mecidiyekoy Art and Istanbul Bookstore is part of a revitalization project in Istanbul’s Mecidiyeköy Square. Designed by KAAT Architecture, the project includes two distinct structures: an art space visible along the pedestrian route and a bookstore to promote cultural regeneration. The buildings feature floating canopy designs and 360-degree glass facades, blending modern architectural techniques with advanced steel engineering to withstand vibrations from the viaduct overhead. Completed in 2021, these structures now serve as cultural landmarks, integrating into the urban fabric while inviting the public to engage with contemporary art and
literature.
